Christmas make up presents

Hi Guys,

I hope you all had a great Christmas and you got lots of lovely things :) Sorry for the lack of posts over the Christmas period, but I always go away to family over Christmas so have been unable to blog! Before I show you what make up Santa bought me, I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all of you that read/follow maydoll! I started this blog to have somewhere just to write about things I enjoy, and to fantasise and it means so much to know you read what I put and hopefully enjoy it! :)

Now onto the make up! This is in no way me showing off about what I got but I thought I might as well show you guys what make up I got because at some point I am sure it will be turning up here for you too see anyway. So this is what I received...

(L-R) Large Gucci Guilty perfume ♥ Mac Girl About Town lipstick ♥ Mac Metal X Rusty eyeshadow ♥ Mac teddy eyeliner ♥  Nars deep throat blusher ♥  Benefit they're real mascara ♥ Rimmel double decker nail varnish♥

I wore Mac Craving on Christmas day, I bought this lipstick about three weeks ago I swatched it and loved it then when I put it on it seemed so dark as I am used to wearing light pinks. However paired with my topshop playsuit which is a deep red/berry colour it looked really great. In the photo below the lipstick does seem a bit lighter than it does on it is just how it photographs but once I got used to it being darker I really like this shade.

Finally I thought I would show you what Girl About Town looks like even though I am sure you have seen it a million times before but I just wanted an excuse to wear it ;) I have wanted this lipstick for agesss! It is such a gorgeous fuschia colour.

Let me know what you guys got for christmas I love being nosey!

Pamper your feet

Now I know feet are not glamorous or sexy, but if you are like me and neglect them than this product from the body shop is great. When you think about it our feet get pretty battered, they lug our bodies around town, get shoved in uncomfortable shoes and more often than liked get stomped on. To pamper my feet and make them more presentable I use this Hemp foot protector from the body shop, it is really thick and moisturising, but from my own personal experience avoid tile floors when you have this on your feet! Now the smell is not great, there is no fragrance to it, it is just hemp but as it is on my feet and far away from my nose I can cope with it.

This product really does improve my feet and keeps them nice and smooth especially my heels. One downside is that I wish this was packaged in a tube as to me it seems unhygienic putting this on my feet and then having to put my hand back into the pot.

For 100ml of this it is £10 which I think is really reasonable considering that it lasts you so long! You can check it out here

No Budget Closet: Lulu Guiness bag

Hi guys,

Sorry for the lack of posts this week I've been so busy at work and getting ready for Christmas that I have barely sat down!

Anyway on to the good stuff, it is Monday which means I am adding a new item to my No Budget Closet.

This week is the Lulu Guiness bag, when I saw this bag I was nearly drooling (classy imagne I know!) I have personally never liked the Lulu Guiness lip clutch bags I feel they look cheap where as this bag is understated yet still fun and quirky.

I love this bag in red and I have paired it with an outfit, I felt this bag would look best with a feminine rock n roll look so I hope you enjoy :)

Item on Display:

Red SnakeSkin FiFi Clutch

Top: Topshop

Hotpants: Topshop

I've got my new shoes on

Hey Dolls,

This is just a quick post to show you guys a few things I got this weekend. If you follow me on twitter you would have heard me talking about these boots from New Look, they look just like the Ambush Topshop ones but are only £19.99!

These are the topshop jeans from my No Budget Closet Post I have been looking for a pair of red jeans for ages and I love these ones, especially with these New Look boots.  After watching Vivianna from Vivianna Does Makeup ( if you haven't checked out her blog already you really should!) recent make up haul it persuaded me to give Essie nail varnishes another chance, as she was saying how great they are and my previous experiences with them have left me unimpressed. So I picked up ' Buy me a cameo' from Liberty's and after a couple of layers of this polish it is a lovely natural champagne, pinky colour. It comes out a lot less gold than it looks in the photo below, and has opened my eyes that there are some great Essie nail varnishes!

Do you guys like Essie nail varnishes?

Max Factor make up haul

I have another 3 for 2 haul for you guys from Superdrug. I originally went into superdrug to check out the max factor elixir lipsticks as I had heard some good things about them as they are supposed to be really hydrating perfect for this time of year! Then when I saw there was a 3 for 2 on I just couldn’t resist, so I ended  up buying two of their lipsticks and then their mascara.

I will start with the mascara I bought this on a complete impulse I didn’t need it but I thought 3 lipsticks was a bit much, but this is the BEST impulse buy ever. I have never found a Holy Grail mascara and I am always trying new ones and trying to find the perfect one, and I think I have now found THE ONE. Yes I know that’s a big statement to make but I absolutely love this mascara, it volumes’ and lengthens my short eyelashes and makes them just how I want them. Now I will admit I am a real mascara girl and I do like it quite obvious that I have mascara on but not so much that they look clumpy and this mascara is the perfect consistency for this. I will most definitely buy this again; I just can’t believe I haven’t tried it sooner!

Next is the lipstick ‘Dusty rose’ initially when I tried this I immediately thought of Mac Bombshell, but after comparing them Dusty rose is a darker pink whereas Bombshell is a light pink. However both of these lipsticks are frost finishes, and for winter I rather like how a frost lipstick looks. The pigmentation of this lipstick is fantastic I do find it very hydrating and also it photographs really well which is always a plus ;) This has in recent weeks been my go too lipstick and at £7.99 it is such a great lipstick! The only down side is that even though the packaging is sturdy why did they choose the colour gold? I find the gold a bit garish, and it makes the lipstick look grubby but hey ho I can live with that when a lipstick is this great.
(L-R) Max Factor Dusky Rose - Mac Bombshell - Max Factor Bewitching Coral
The last thing I got was another Elixir lipstick called ‘Bewitching coral.’ Now this is a lipstick that I have heard a bit more about but I have no idea why I bought a coral lipstick in the middle of winter! I am just such a sucker for coral lipsticks, I love them yet don’t wear them a lot only really when I’m on holiday. This is a gorgeous shade of coral, but I know I won’t wear it at all until spring/summer time so I probably would have been better off picking another shade instead!

NOTD- Model Owns Mystic Mauve

Hey Girlies,

I thought I would show you what is currently on my nails, which I am loving! Can you believe these are my first model owns nail varnishes! Where have I been?! Mystic Mauve is the most gorgeous shimmery silver/lilac colour with really fine shimmer in it and has fast become one of my favourite nail varnishes. The pink colour which is on half of my ring finger is also Model's Own Pastel pink and like the name  it is the perfect pastel pink colour, some pink nail varnishes can seem too milky but all this polish needs is two coats to achieve this lovely pastel pink colour.
I really like this half and half design on my ring finger what do you guys think?

No Budget Closet: Alexander McQueen Scarf

Hey girls,

It is Monday again which calls for another item being added to my no budget closet! I thought I would do something different with this post today and make an outfit showing you how I would wear the new item, which is the Alexander McQueen skull scarf! I can't believe I haven't added this in sooner it is such a statement piece and although it has skulls over it I still feel it is a classic piece and you will be wearing this gorgeous silk scarf for many years to come.

Now the outfit I have put together is with pieces from the high street at the moment and also items which I have already selected to put into my no budget closet, so it gives you a good idea on how I would bring pieces together :) .

NOTD: Christmas Nails

As it is the 1st of December I decided to get into the Christmas spirit and make my nails a bundle of Christmas spirit. I originally just painted them ‘Saville row by Nail’s Inc.,’ which is a gorgeous deep purpley red, perfect for winter. But on reflection I just thought they looked a bit plain which is when I remembered I owned Disco Ball by Rimmel. This glitter nail varnish was a complete impulse buy and after using it once it has been pushed to the side. But yesterday when I was in MAC I suddenly became transfixed by ‘unconditionally fabulous’ a lovely glitter nail polish. Now for some reason my rational side came in and told myself NO Ellie you do not need that nail polish you have something VERY similar, (this doesn’t happen very often) which is how I came to remember that I owned Disco Ball by Rimmel. I know it is not an exact dupe for Mac’s unconditionally fabulous as it has lot more blue sparkle in it but it has satisfied by glitter graving and made my nails feel very Christmassy :)

Sorry about the massive mark on the Nails Inc bottle, its one thing I dislike about their bottles they look so dirty so easily! Any of you tried out some christmas nail designs?

No Budget Closet- Balenciaga City Bag

I know what you guys are thinking 'another handbag?' but handbags are my weakness, if I had limitless amounts of money that is what I would spend it on! I feel handbags really make an outfit, they can make a basic and plain outfit instantly look more put together. Also I see handbags as an investment, they can last you years and travel through the various seasons with you that is if you invest in the correct ones! Anyway in my No Budget Closet this week is the Balenciaga city bag in silver.  This is a colour you don't see often which is probably why I am drawn to it, although it isn't your classic black this is still a versatile colour and can be worn with so many pieces.

This will set you back £945, but it is such beautiful soft leather . I would love to own this bag, maybe I need to start buying a lottery ticket...

No Budget Closet- Carter Love Pink Gold Bracelet

The new item to enter my No Budget Closet is the Carter Love Bracelet in Pink gold. I have always loved these bracelets first seeing it years ago when Kourtney Kardashian was rocking it, but more recently while watching Tamara Ecclestone's new show I noticed she has three stacked on her wrist and they look so nice!

These bracelets are such classic, chic pieces to have but they will cost you a lot especially if you want diamond ones like Tamara, but a girl can dream :) There are so many variations of this bracelet which one would you want?

This is just a quick post to show you guys what I bought in Topshop with my 20% Stylist discount.I really need to stop treating myself I do it far to often but, with 20% discount burning in my pocket I couldn't resist!

This jumper really caught my eye as it has two of my favourite things incorporated in it, knitwear and leopard print! It is quite a loose fit which I really like at the moment as it is great for layering and the back of it is longer .The original price for this is £46 but with my 20% discount I got it for £36.80 :) So if you still have your Stylist discount I really recommend heading to your nearest Topshop they have some great things in at the moment but you only have til November 22nd to use it so hurry! I'm sure an outfit of the day post will follow soon ;)

No Budget Closet - Louis Vuitton Scarf

As it is such a cold Monday today I thought I would pick something pratical for this weeks No Budget Closet piece. This being the leopard print Louis Vuitton scarf in the colour navy. I have seen a few people wearing this, and because it is such a big thick scarf it looks so warm perfect for this weather, and on trend with the animal print ;) Now this will cost you £505 which is a lot for a scarf but hey if money was no object I’d snap this up! I’m drawn to these colours they seem perfect for winter and I feel you could even carry this through into early spring. If you had the money would you buy this scarf?

Hello Ladies,

I thought I would do my first NOTD post! I love nail designs and nail art however working in a corporate environment means I can't be too out there. So this is what I ended up with when trying to be creative, doing a half and half design on my ring finger. It is so easy to do, just pick any two colours making sure the lightest one is your base colour, then with a steady hand paint half your nail with the darker colour. The colours I used was Chanel Quartz ( I told you I wore it a lot!) and Mac little girl type which was limited addition and a lilac colour.

Whats your feelings on this nail design?

No Budget Closet- Mulberry Evelina Hobo

Is it really Monday already? Oh well at least it means I get to add a new piece to my new budget closet :)  This week’s item is the new gorgeous Mulberry Evelina hobo bag. I know... it is another bag but from when I first laid eyes on this bag on Thursday I have been thinking about it and mentally working out in my head where I can cut back so I can own this beauty!( does anyone else do this?)  I love Mulberry bags, the quality is excellent, the leather is so soft and one key thing I love about Mulberry bags is they are understated. In my eyes Mulberry always gets it right by not plastering their logo everywhere, I love the small discreet Mulberry logo at the bottom of the bag, which makes the bag look even more chic and effortless.  I seriously love this bag I will start saving for it now, what do you guys think of the Evelina bag?

(Price £795)

Mac Holiday 2011 - Glitter and Ice Collection

I have been so excited for the release of the Mac’s holiday collection Glitter and Ice as there were so many products from the promotion photos that I wanted. So today on my lunch break I raced to my local MAC counter and boy was I not disappointed! For one of the first times with a collection I could have bought it all, well not all but the majority of it! There is very little not to love about this collection; it is glittery, has great wearable colours and limited edition packaging. Limited edition packaging seems to make anything more desirable to me. Does anyone else feel the same?! The SA was most helpful in selling every single product to me and making me feel like it is something I needed rather than wanted! These are the few pieces I walked away with, but I get the feeling they won’t be the last I buy from the collection :)  Once I have had a proper chance to wear and use these products I will give you guys a review, but for now these are my first thoughts on them so enjoy!

  • Mac Snow Season is a gorgeous gold and pinky mineralized eye shadow. From the few swatches I have done of this eyeshadow the pigmentation seems really good and it has lovely flecks of glitter in it.

  • Mac Spanking Rich Dazzleglass is a stunning berry colour with fuchsia glitter in it. This one was a real impulsive buy as I barely ever wear lipgloss let alone glittery ones! But I fell in love with the colour of this dazzleglass and thought 'hey christmas is coming up i'm sure I can whip it out at some point ;) ' I can't wait to try this out, and this dazzleglass has the lovely vanilla scent to it.

  • Make It perfect brush kit I don't think I need to say too much about this brush kit, I mean they have glittery handles who wouldn't want it!! This kit was £39.50 which is such great value considering the great quality of the brushes, I love that they are smaller so when travelling they will be easier to pack. With this brush kit you get a small 187 and 130 which are face brushes, then you also get a 286 and 282 which are eye brushes. One thing I am not sure about is the random silver circle on the make up bag I have no idea why they have added it there but I doubt I will use the bag much.

If you want to look at the rest of the collection then click here.
