OOTW: Fallin' For Fall

Autumn is well and truly here, is everyone getting ready for the storm? I've stopped up on the essentials such as crisps, soup and magazines haha. Before the storm well and truly hits us I thought I would rock bare legs and snap my sunday outfit, pieces I found at my family home and forgot I even owned. I am IN LOVE with my new boots from Topshop, they arrived Thursday and I have been desperate for the weekend to appear so I can wear them. One thing I will say about these boots is go up a size as they came up very small and tight.

How is your weekend? Isn't everything look so pretty at the moment now the leaves have fallen!

Illamasqua- The Sacred Hour Collection

Hands up who loves a new make up collection, *waves mine in the air* now I know this collection has been out for a bit now but I wanted to trial the products fairly to see how I felt about them. Lets start with my favourite item from the collection this gorgeous vampy raspberry violet lipstick in the colour Shard doesn't it just scream Autumn! It is a matte finish but feels so creamy on the lips and doesn't pull like some matte lipsticks do, it is a real statement colour and one I highly recommend it for winter as an alternative to a red lip.

My second favourite item from this collection is this blusher in Peaked. This is completely up my street a matte dusky rose colour and is one of those fancy cream to powder formulas. Usually cream blushers and I just don't see eye to eye but this formula really works for my skin, it doesn't separate and highlight dry areas of skin and gives you such a natural flush of colour. This has been the only colour I've been wearing since Autumn has begun and it goes so nicely with the shard lipstick.

Finally the New reflective palette this caught my eye straight away as the colours are so pretty. It contains four creamy colours which are very light weight and so easy to blend, my favourite is the taupe colour. This is the kind of palette which is great to have it your bag incase you are going out after work as no brushes are needed and it is so easy to apply.

Have any of you got anything from this collection? Feel you are brave enough to wear Shard?

*These are PR samples but all opinions are my own.

Aye Aye Sailor

Hi Guys,

I hope you are well :) Life has been so busy again I have been studying for an insurance exam and I have been so stressed about it I take my hat off to any of you who are doing/done degrees! I wore this at the weekend for a trip to Brighton, the weather was glorious and I spent the whole day chilling on the beach with my cousin. I have been spending a lot of time in Brighton again since moving back down south it instantly feels like home again, I love spending my time there and there is now a place that sells Milk Bubble Tea woop!

Since being sent this gorgeous dress from French Connection I have quite literally been living in it! It is so versatile I have been wearing it like this to work with a navy cardigan, then in the day or if I was going shopping I would just put on some sandals. It is the kind of dress that is so easy to dress up and down and really can you go wrong with navy stripes?! I am really tempted to buy it in the coral as well, it is such a flattering shape and I have had no many compliments on this one, don't you think it will look great with brown boots in the winter?

How was your bank holiday weekend? I'm thinking of getting a mac book air has anyone got one? If so do you think it is better than the pro?

Brighton Lovin' OOTD

Long time no speak! Life really has got in the way recently, I have moved house again so now live with the lovely Hannah above who really should start a fashion blog & who I have been best friends with for yonks! We have done nothing to fight the typical stereotypes of a girls flat, there is pink everywhere and a lot of cushions! I will do a flat tour soon if that is something you'd be interested in seeing?

This is an outfit I wore on Saturday to do some crucial errands such as getting my eyebrows done and grabbing a shakeaway ( a must when in Brighton) and I thought I would take my new white blazer out for a spin. I have been putting off wearing it for a few weeks now with the fear I would get it dirty and of course me being me I have brushed against some dirt and there is black on the shoulder *sigh*. I love blazers and little jackets they have to be a staple in my wardrobe, they instantly make me feel put together and can take you from day to tonight so easily. How's your weekend been? Anyone else obsessed with these topshop cami's?! I have about 4 of them haha!

Hopefully I have finally got my blog mojo back, I have a few more posts lined up so fingers crossed :)

Warehouse Shoot: Postcards from Shoreditch

Hey Lovelies,

How warm is it today?! I am slightly melting but enjoying the warmer weather. Last month I was contacted by Warehouse to see if I was interested in picking an outfit and taking part in a photoshoot for their social networking platforms. I think you all know by now how uncool I am so after letting out a squeal and wearing a huge cheesy grin I happily accepted! I will admit I was pretty nervous about A) someone else taking my photo who I am not able to boss about slightly and B) picking an outfit deemed 'cool' enough to be on their social networking pages! I was worried people would expect something really edgy as I am a fashion blogger and lets be honest ladies I am the furthest thing from edgy!

After eyeing up a lot of the lovely pieces in Warehouse at the moment and trying on a fair few I instantly fell in love with this jacket (in store not online) and knew it was 'the one.' You know when you love a piece so much you mentally pair it with everything in your wardrobe? Yep that is what has happened with this little number don't you think it will look great with a LBD and some neon accessories! The photographer and girls were so lovely and made me feel completely at eased, it felt more like hanging out with friends than getting a job done! I am really pleased with the photos and personally love this outfit so much! What do you think of the outfit? If any of you ladies are on the market for a new pair of jeans and usually wear the topshop leigh jeans you NEED to put them down and try these. Finally after many years of sucking in and squeezing into various jeans I have found a pair that are comfortable around the waist, the right length for my short legs (goodbye roll ups) and stretchy enough that they will give a bit after a meal. I can not praise these jeans enough, I can't believe they are not raved about more the even better bit is I comfortably got into a size 8 pair oh yeaaah ;) haha!!

Currently gracing my nails...

I'm not sure about you but when I need a little pick me up I always seem to end up with a new nail polish, which is exactly what happened to me last month. While browsing Boots this polish caught my eye and before I knew it I had checked out and was on my merry way. The polish in question is the one above called Maximillian Strasse which is from Essie's spring collection. Straight away I was worried that it was going to be very similar to Essie Absolutely Shore which I love but find a bit too pale and 'bright' for every day wear.

Luckily this colour is much more a muted pale sage green colour with very strong grey undertones. This is the sort of pastel shade which can be worn as a edgy neutral colour, it is very surprising how much it goes with! Application wise as the formula is thick you could get away with one coat, but out of habit I always use two coats which just makes the colour more opaque. I personally love this colour it is exactly what I have wanted for my 9-5 summer days, and honestly can you have too many mint shades in your collection?!

Have any of you got this colour? What is your favourite day to day nail polish?

P.s I see the GFC panic is back and if any of you GFC followers like my blog enough I would love it if you followed me on bloglovin so you don't miss out on any of my rambles :)

Where have I been?

Maholla Lovelies!

Some of you may or may not be aware that over the month of May I had a lot going on personally and decided to take a step back from blogging. As well as turning 21 and dragging the celebrations out for the whole month ( I swear I'm not a Diva) I also took some time to reflect on who I was becoming and where I wanted to go in life. Deep stuff I know. I won't go into it too much as I am sure no one wants to feel down when reading a blog but I have felt for the last few months I had become very materialistic and I was no longer humble, which are two traits I never want to have in myself. However fear not after a few personal changes I feel I am back to my old self. For the first time in a long time I feel really happy and content with life, I have a plan and I intend to stick to it. I do appreciate that I am writing this under a photograph of a new Prada purse and Tiffany necklace but those were both surprises for my 21st which I will treasure forever and am completely ecstatic with.

In my absence I have been updating my Instagram a lot so if you fancy seeing what I have been up to I would love it if you followed me, my name is elliemaydoll. As always please leave your Instagram names below I love finding new people to follow and new wardrobes to drool over!! I feel I have my blogging mojo back and I have a lot of posts lined up- June is looking like an exciting month!

P.s My Mum made this cake for my 21st and it was delicious! I was completely shocked she made this cake as quite frankly I didn't think she had it in her haha (sorry Mum.) Only problem is that I now can't blame her for my useless baking skills!

Welcome Back

Hey Lovelies,

Remember me?! I have had a little break from blogging recently. As my blog is a hobby I never want to force myself to do it because the enjoyment is then sucked out of it. It has been quite nice taking a step back and being 'normal' i.e not searching the streets for a pretty background and waiting for the right lighting to take pictures, if you are a fellow blogger I'm sure you know exactly what I mean!

Due to my little break I now feel nervous about taking outfit pictures (hence the awkward photos) and posting again, which sounds so silly but I have lost my mojo a little bit so please bare with me. Quite a lot has happened to me the past couple of weeks I have finally got my large tush in gear and started to exercise properly as in stepping out of the house! I have started going to Pilates which is a lot more difficult than it seems and running in Hyde Park, so if you see a bright pink lump on the floor than that it is me but do come and say Hi ... or just call 999 whichever seems more appropriate at the time! haha. Hopefully I will have thin thighs and be bikini ready in time for the summer. I wore this yesterday a very relaxed outfit, but I was a little chilly and there may of been a couple Marilyn Monroe moments minus the graceful bit!

How was your weekend? I completely forgot that it was Monday today but luckily I have Tuesday and Wednesday off to go shopping with my mum for birthday presents :) Also does anyone know how to reduce redness in skin? I am really suffering with mine at the moment so any tips would be a great help.

New in my Wardrobe

Just a quick post today to share with you a couple of things I bought when I went shopping with Beautyholic Romy who is a complete enabler! Can these shoes get anymore me?! I am in love with them- leopard print and coral are right up my street, I am planning on wearing them on my birthday... god knows what with yet! Please tell me I am not the only one who plans outfits around shoes haha. I also bought this necklace which was pretty pricey at £15 but I have been after a gold chain necklace which I know everyone has at the moment, but I felt this one was a little bit different and would look really great with a grey t-shirt.

Have you bought any treats recently? I am trying to be good this month so considering I have been paid for a week this is very restrained haha. Everyone been enjoying the sunshine?

Dior My Lady Healthy Glow Complexion Enhancing Palette

Can we just please take a minute and admire the beauty of the palette..... *swoon*

Anyway onto the review itself. As you can see this palette is absolutely gorgeous it quite honestly looks too good to use and it took me a few days to build up the courage to use it! I first saw this palette at the Dior exhibition in Harrods, I could not stop eyeing it up but in the end I forced myself to walk away due to the eye watering £48 price tag it was lumped with. I have been looking for a powder for about a month now and as this has been compared to the Chanel Healthy glow sheer powder a lot so I was tempted to buy that due to it being £10 cheaper. As the exhibition ended on the 14th April and the products were LE I assumed they were no longer there, I have no idea how but Jack managed to get hold of this one and surprised me with it I can not explain how happy I was!

The palette itself is housed in a heavy weighted case which I personally love- it gives it that extra feel of sophistication and lets be honest looks pretty when I want to whip it out for touch ups ;). It also comes with this cute little kabuki brush, which is also of very good quality. I have only worn this a couple of times as I received it Thursday but so far I have been lightly sweeping it across my face and found it translucently powders the skin but adds a finely milled shimmer which gives you such a nice healthy glow. This powder suits me as I don't like matte finishes on my skin but depending on what finish you like the Chanel one may be best for you anyway.

I am so happy with this powder I am always really impressed with Dior products but if you are after one I would make a dash to Harrods asap to see if they have any left! What is your favourite powder?

Three Ways To Wear- Elephant print trousers

Hi Lovelies,

I am so excited to finally start and share this new series on my blog! I have had this idea for a while but felt it was best to start it once my blog had had its new look so what do you think?! I am biased but I LOVE it and am so happy with how it has turned out.  As some of you might know one of my New Year’s resolutions (anyone remember those past January 2nd?!) was that I wanted to wear the things in my wardrobe more, I felt there were certain items I loved to pieces but could only think of one way to wear them so they went pretty much unloved. In an attempt to wear my clothes more and get my monies worth out of them I have stepped out of my comfort zone with pairings and been very selective over the new pieces I buy. Before I part ways with my hard earnt cash I try to make three outfits in my head which include the item in question, if I am able to do that then I happily sprint to the check out.

Without further ado my first item in my three ways to wear series are these gorgeous elephant trousers from Topshop. Now I love elephants it probably has something to do with the fact every elephant is called Ellie or Nelly (why is this?!) so I feel I have an instant bond with elephants! I wanted to show how these trousers can be worn casually in the day and then smart/casual for the evening.

Outfit 2- Keeping the basics from the first outfit, & just transforming it quickly with a jacket and heels to make you ready for some cocktails and dinner.

These outfits are just to help you and give you ideas if you want/have these particular trousers or something similar. I am in no way saying you need these items (unless you feel you do obviously!) but you can use them as rough outlines and tailor them to what you have in your wardrobes.  If there is any item of clothing you have seen online and are unsure what to wear with it please email me the link at ellie@maydoll.co.uk and I will do my best to make three versatile outfits for you :)

Which is your favourite outfit? Anyone got these trousers?

P.s Sorry about the yellow wall the next series won't have this background!

OOTW: Number 43

Happy Monday lovelies! Today I leapt out of bed at 5.30am for an early morning meeting and surprisingly I am in a really good mood. Now I know some get up this early all the time but compared to my usual 7.15am crawl out of bed this was a shock to my system, but I have to say it was really nice. London seems so calm and tranquil at 6.30am, saying that I doubt 5.30am wake ups are going to be a common occurrence!

On Sunday the boyfriend and I went for a lovely walk around Notting Hill and Holland Park area. A walk on a Sunday has become part of our weekly routine; Jack thinks I was a puppy in a past life due to needing a walk every day haha. I would have been a golden retriever, I've always wanted to be a blonde! We came across a colourful street in Notting Hill with some gorgeous houses; I call dibs on number 43 as it is painted in my favourite colour. I am easily swayed. If I had all the money in the world I would buy it, decorate it all shabby chic inside and blog til my heart’s content. Sadly in the real world I doubt I will ever be able to afford the million pound price tag that comes along with it but a girl can dream right? For the walk I wore my new hot pink jacket which was featured in my previous post, I get a feeling now I have gone pink there is no going back it’s going to be hard to get me out of this little jacket! I kept the outfit really simple, wearing a black thin strappy cami fromTopshop which comes in an array of colours and a real staple for your wardrobe and paired it with this amazing Violet Darkling Necklace which I love; it makes this plain outfit more interesting. What do you think, simple is best sometimes right?

How was your weekend? Did you enjoy the sunshine? Have any of you been to this street in Notting Hill?

Outfit of the weekend: I'm in hot pink!

This is another naughty new purchase, I just can' t help myself at the moment Topshop keeps getting it spot on! This jacket was again love at first sight with is bizzare as A) I only own one other pink item and B) I don't think pink suits me, so for me to pick this up is so unlike me! For its first outing out I decided to style it casually and was pleasantly surprised at how well it complimented my favourite neon necklace, what do you think?

I am currently working on a new series for my blog which I can't wait to share with you, it's an idea I have had for a while and this weekend I can finally put it into practise! I will also be filming a couple of videos for my YouTube video, I have a big haul to do with an exciting reveal -Oo such a tease ;) ,  but is there anything else you would like me to film?

P.S Thank you for all the lovely comments on my last lipstick post, I blushed at a couple i've never had so many compliments! Haha

Illamasqua Immodest Lipstick

I'm my Mother's daughter give me a bright pink lipstick and I am happy. Illamasqua's Immodest £16* is a blue based matte pink lipstick, which in the bullet looks neon but I was pleasantly surprised that on it is very wearable. My initial thoughts when I saw this lipstick was that it was going to be like Nicki Minaj’s viva glam lipstick, it looks lovely in the bullet but on it will wash me out but I think it did the opposite it really made my lips pop and instantly made me feel summery. Even though it is a bright pink this is a shade I would wear in the day more than night/clubbing which is when I usually wear bright lipsticks…. If I ever pluck up the courage to spend my evening with sweaty strangers in a club,(I’m not really a clubbing sort of gal’ haha). The packaging is lovely and sleek, I like that the packaging is a shiny texture I personally think it makes it seem luxurious.

One thing I will say is : you need to prep those lips girrl. Due to this being a matte finish and a bit dryer than the Mac Matte finishes it shows up every imperfection on your lips. I have recently got in the habit of applying lip balm about 3 times a day while I am at my desk and I have noticed a huge difference in my lips they are a lot less dry. I found if you apply a basic lipbalm I am using Nivea honey and milk at the moment then apply the lipstick straight away it actually applies very easily. This lasted on my lips for about 4 hours until I had to top up. I am very happy with my first dabble in the Illamasaqua lipstick world :).

What do you think of bright pinks? You brave enough to wear this in the day? I’m getting there slowly!

Outfit of the weekend: Day at the Museum

Let me start off by saying if you follow me on twitter than this is the outfit in question with regards to this classic quote from the boy : 'you look like a 15 year old boy but with fake eyelashes,' charming aye! He obviously just doesn't get fashion as personally I think this has to be one of my favourite outfits I have worn in a long time, I am in love with this stripe baggy shirt from Topshop it is a little pajama'y but really was love at first sight. I know It is going to be hard to get me out of this so as much as the boy hates it he will just have to get used to it haha!

At the weekend I had my heart set on going to the Natural History Museum, a little fun fact  I love history I find it fascinating I love picturing how things used to be & I would love a time machine to see in particular how London used to be. BUT my god did I make a mistake going this weekend silly me forgot that it was the bloomin last weekend of easter half term so the world, his wife AND child decided to go to the museum and to top it off it was pouring with rain and we had to que outside for 30 minutes *sigh*. Thankfully after much sulking from being forced to wear a jacket I was secretly pleased as this coat has a hood and kept me very dry (obviously I didn't admit I was pleased as I am stubborn haha.) This Museum is seriously stunning the architecture was beautiful (sorry geeking out again) look at all the arch ways and the light that pours in, I particularly like that this is free I hate being ripped off with a £30 ticket to see things in your own city!

What are your thoughts on this shirt? Maybe it is a love/hate item but I have my rose tinted glasses on and am completely blind sighted by its beauty and potential.... anyone would think I was describing a house not a piece of clothing. I really do think I need help!

P.s How the heck is it Monday already?! WAAAH :(
