Story of my week through my iphone #2

So Monday has crept up on me once again, I am not sure why as Monday always comes after Sunday but still I'm not ready for Monday! I am off to Rome on Thursday and have so much to do between now and then, I have about a million lists to try and remember everything. Anyway I always feel these are a little bit of a cheat post, but I have really been getting into instagram again and enjoying uploading nice photos ( well I think they're nice anyway haha!).

• Rediscovered this Chanel blusher/bronzer for the 2nd time • New Necklace which I love • Outfit of the day coming soon! • In bed at 4pm because of the snow • gorgeous dress in Jack Wills • Mac lipstick collection

If you would like to follow me my instagram name is elliemaydoll, leave your usernames below as I am always looking for new people to follow and admire their photos! :)

Also if anyone has been to Rome before and have any recommendations please let me know I am currently being a geek and putting a little itinerary together including google maps so I don't get lost haha!

Healthy Food Diary #1

Hi Lovelies,

A very different post from me today. As I am sure most of you are aware if you follow me on twitter I have been moaning embracing healthy eating this week. Monday last week while doing my usual aimless surfing of the internet and looking at all these amazing bikini bodies whilst eating a peanut butter kit kat chunky (my favourite) something FINALLY clicked inside my head that I have to work hard to get a body like that. God does not love me enough to bless me with incredible abs while stuffing my face!

Que my new obsession of surfing the internet for healthy and delicious recipes (any excuse really to spend ages on pinterest.) I decided to try and cut out wheat as much as I can, I already have an intolerance for it but as I am a rebel (nawt I just love bread) I carried on eating it which results in me feeling bloated, having bad stomach ache and bad skin. I also have made a determined effort to cut out dairy as I know this also affects your skin but I do allow myself a glass of chocolate milk, which I make myself as a sweet treat after dinner. So I thought I would share with you what I have been eating for dinner this week as I find these the hardest meals to keep healthy as inspiration/help if you too are on a health kick. Note Friday is missing as it was a repeat of Monday!

Monday- Steamed chicken breast & vegetables with houmous.
Tuesday- Brown rice, with steamed vegetables and chilli prawns
Wednesday- Stuffed avocado with salmon, cucumber and zest of lemon. Rocket salad and beetroot on the side.

Thursday- Brown rice, steamed vegetables and garlic prawns. Side salad, with more beetroot my favourite!
Snacks- Besides fruit I noticed in the afternoon I have been slumping and needing something sweet so I bought these gluten and wheat free bars, which aren't too bad. I recommend the cocoa orange not so much the cashew cookie.
Breakfast- I have mainly been having porridge in the morning but I also had banana and peanut butter, yummy :).

As well as eating healthy I am going swimming 4 days a week, making sure I do 50 lengths and really pushing myself so my heart race is increased. So far after a week I feel a lot healthier, I have a lot more energy, am less bloated and fitted in my slim day jeans. Ladies, tell me I am not the only one who has these?! I hope this is helpful :) Let me know what your favourite healthy meals are as I always need ideas too! Do you like this post? Would you like it to be a regular thing?

P.s sorry for the rubbish photos they were taken on my iphone, I will try this week to do them on my camera.

A Nars & Mac Love Affair

Another lip product for you today I am afraid! Lip products are my weakness and even though I do seem to have quite the collection recently there have only been two looks that I have been reaching for. You can read about my first favourite here, but sometimes a bright lip just isn't appropriate which is where this dreamy combo comes in.Mac Lovelorn was my first ever lipstick that I bought and the first mac lip product I ever bought. It has been a happy and reliable love affair since that day 2 years ago, the perfect natural pink for an every day look. As with anything you get a bit bored of the same old same old every day, so over the late summer/ early autumn I stopped wearing lovelorn and it started collecting dust in my make up draws. By accident one day going home I packed it instead of another Mac lipstick which is how I remembered I loved it so much. At Christmas santa bought me a new Nars Como lipgloss, which has to be one of my favourite lipglosses it isn't sticky and lasts for ages, however the applicator it teeny tiny! I paired them together one day and the rest is history, this is now my go too every day lip colour. I love that together it is warm pink with just the slightest hint of a berry colour. I have it on today I applied them at 7.30 am and at midday you can still see it on my lips, I can even feel the lipgloss! This combo is perfect if you have a long day a head and no time for touch ups or like me have many horrific journeys in the morning, and usually you get it work with next to nothing on your lips!Have any of you tried this combo? What is your go to lip products for the day?

The Red Lip for me - YSL Glossy Stain 11

Ladies, this is the one. Yes, that is right after a lot of searching and testing I have found the red lip for me. Now this wasn't a quick or easy process I have tried out various lipsticks, lip glosses and even a couple of tinted lip balms until I realised I have not tried a YSL glossy stain. My mum bought a plum colour at the airport when we went to Canada and I remember always admiring the colour and the way it looked on her. I then also saw a blogger wearing number 9 in an outfit post, and thought it was gorgeous so it instantly became my mission to own it.

I went to boots to buy it, (obviously think of the points!) and after trying number 9 I actually felt that it washed me out and just didn't suit me. I tried a couple of others reds, one was too much of a brick colour and the other one was orange/red and not what I was looking for. It was my bf Hannah who noticed this shade and said try it on. Once it graced my lips I knew it had to be mine! This is my kind of red, it has a bit of pink in it which I find suits my pinky completion and doesn't wash my out.

I love the packing it is so chic and sleek, I love the little panel so you can see the colour inside. The angle sponge applicator is great as it is big enough to apply the stain preciously and easilly, I find it covers my whole bottom lip and to get the colour above it takes one sweep forward then one back on itself. The tapered tip is especially good for filling in those pesky corners which you really need to do when wearing a bright lip. I find that it lasts really well, it does lose some of its vibrance after 3 hours but it still leaves a colour on your lips and double bonus it isn't sticky!

This is fairly pricey at £22.50 but I really think it is worth it. One of my things for 2013 is to wear a red lip more, I think it really transforms a simple outfit and always seems to make an outfit look more polish and together and this is a colour which I don't feel self conscious wearing. I wore it here on new years eve. Have you got any of the Glossy stains? If so which one should be next on my list? What is your favourite red lip product?

OOTW: Black and White with a floppy hat

Hi Lovelies,

How has your first weekend of 2013 been?! I have really enjoyed mine, going back for 3 days last week was a killer, I am not looking forward to next weeks full working week, going back to work is always so hard! Yesterday we went for a walk through Hyde Park, fed the squirrels, headed off to lunch and then in the evening we went to Ice Bar. I always thought Ice Bar was just one of those tourist 'attractions' so I was never really interested in going but it was one of our friends birthday so we went along and I really enjoyed it! You spend 40 minutes inside and it flew by, it went a lot quicker than it would if you were just in a club. It is £16 to get in but that does include a drink inside, which you get to drink out of a ice glass pretty cool right?!

I have told myself that 2013 is the year I will be more exciting, more daring and try more things. One of the areas that my best friend and I both agreed on is that we want to wear things which are not in our comfort zone and are a little more fashion forward/daring. Now to some these leggings are just plain and not daring but to me they are pretty daunting as I hate my legs so to wear a pattern on them to draw attention to them is big! I saw some girl wearing these in the street in Brighton and she looked amazing in them (she was tall and skinny though *sigh*) and was instantly drawn to them. The jumper teamed with them was basically me going ' OMG I have two days to wear all my new clothes so I am wearing them at once' anyone else do that?! I love this jumper, and I am pretty fond of this outfit it would look even better with a red bag i.e a red celine bag which I am in love with!!

What are your new years resolutions? Are you keeping to them?

First Outfit of Twenty-Thirteen

Hi Lovelies,

Back to work today, I can't believe the festive season is now over :(. I started off the day feeling really positive but it is 3.30pm and I am looking out the window to a dark sky and I am feeling less positive. I wanted to really get fit this year my thinspiration is Ashley Sky but when I am in this sort of mood the gym is the last place I want to be!

I had a lovely first day of the year, as I was feeling fresh I headed off to London for a mooch around. My first meal of 2013 was of course dim sum, my favourite! I then went for stroll through Hyde Park and ended up in Harrods looking at the puppies, which is one of my favourite places to go in London. I mean puppies make everyone happy right?! I also managed to get my hands on a pair of leggings in Topshop Knightsbridge which I have wanted for ages, I always forget how good that Topshop is!

I wore a few new purchases yesterday, one being the only sale item I picked up-which is this necklace from Dorothy Perkins. I never think to look in Dorothy Perkins but they have some really nice pieces, I also bought this stripey jumper as it one of these easy pieces to wear and is nice and baggy and comfortable.Do you shop there often? Isn't today supposed to be the most depressing day of the year? What do you think?

Also any hair experts out there, what can I do about my hair as I hate the colour now. Basically in September a hairdresser ruined my hair so it had to be stripped and copper tones were the only colour they could use. But now it has turned very light and is more ginger, plus my roots are really dark. Am I better off getting it dyed again or just letting it grow out? I want to be chocolate brown again not this funny colour! haha.

NYE Make Up, Hello 2013!

Happy New Year!!

Hasn't 2012 flown by! This year feels a bit meh, I'm not sad to see it go and I am really excited for 2013, this never happens but I feel like it will be a good and exciting year. I know people usually post these posts on NYE or before but due to me not being organised and deciding on my make up on the day you get it a day late. As my make up isn't really glittery you could just wear it to the next party that you have, or to dinner which is where I wore this. This is the lip colour I was talking about in my previous post, and I will do a review on it soon as I love it!

How are you all feeling this morning?! Did you have a good NYE? I feel surprisingly fine I might even go as far as saying 'fresh' haha, I didn't drink much at all. How are you spending the first day of 2013?  I think I might go for a walk as it looks lovely and sunny out, and I need to start as I mean to go on... Getting fit!!
